New York, NY – September 15, 2025 – Soul Chants Music and the Krishnamurthy Tandon Foundation celebrate the release of Soul Ecstasy, the highly anticipated seventh album by Grammy®-winning vocalist, composer, and humanitarian Chandrika Tandon.
Available now on all platforms, Soul Ecstasy, follows her 2025 album Triveni, which was honored with a Grammy® for Best New Age Album and her 2009 release Soul Call, which received a Grammy® Nomination for Best Contemporary World Music Album.
Chandrika Tandon has received extensive training in Indian classical music, which at its highest form aspires to bring both listener and musician to an experience of the divine. This musical ecstasy is invoked through sophisticated and complex combinations of unique musical components including ragas (scales) and chalans (movements) set to multiple talas(rhythm cycles) and containing words and mantras drawn from ancient texts as expressed throughout this album by the soulful voice of Chandrika Tandon.
In a recent Billboard magazine profile, Tandon says “This album is about giving listeners access to their own joyous state in a blissful way,” says Tandon. “The songs are more high-energy than my past work, and the choral elements invite people to experience that ecstasy together.”
Soul Ecstasy was recorded in New York and India with Tandon’s longtime collaborator, the sarod maestro Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar. It is an offering of eight songs featuring many ragas featuring sixteen classical singers and seventy-five virtuoso Indian musicians playing on multiple traditional Indian instruments such as the sarangi, bansuri, shenai, sitar, esraj, tabla, and pakhavaj. Some tracks harmoniously integrate Western sounds such as the Spanish guitar and acoustic piano featuring the great Cuban pianist Martin Bejerano.
The album opens with the Spanish-infused “Canto Divino: Kiravani” which features the sound of the guitar in both Indian and Spanish styles. The devotional “Call of the Dawn: Govinda” offers a reconstructed version of a traditional call-and-response song, setting a selection of the original verses into a medley of four ragas. The climactic “Glory Rising: Todi” fuses traditional Indian drums with the vocally sung rhythmic syllables of konnakol (the spoken word), surrounding the aarti (gratitude offering) in a new raga setting. Together, the album takes the listener on a hypnotic, uplifting journey that makes these time-honored traditions accessible without diluting their depth.
Chandrika Tandon herself is a rare artist who has been able to attain simultaneous success as both an accomplished musician and as a trailblazer in the world of business and philanthropy. The first Indian-American woman to ever become a partner at McKinsey & Company, the global management consulting firm, and founder of Tandon Capital Associates, she has devoted much of her life to empowering communities through the Krishnamurthy Tandon Foundation, as well as her leadership at NYU University where she and her husband have founded the Tandon School of Engineering. Her numerous honors include the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, the Ban-Ki Moon Award for Women’s Empowerment, NYU’s Gallatin Medal, and most recently the ASCAP Foundation’s Champion Award and the Voice Foundation’s Voice Education Research Awareness Award. She has also been inducted into the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (AMACAD).
Chandrika Tandon has performed nationally and internationally in front of millions of people at venues and festivals including the World Cultural Festival, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Nassau Coliseum and premier European venues. Tandon is supporting the release of Soul Ecstasy with a series of concerts, interactive listening events, and immersive performances at venues including Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Music Hall, The Barns at Wolf Trap in Washington DC and New York’s legendary Symphony Space. In these live appearances Chandrika will guide audiences through energized sections including meditation, sing-alongs, and sacred sound experiences, bringing them to the same soul ecstasy as expressed on her latest recording.
