Billy Bragg and Joe Henry have confirmed new fall tour dates in support of their new collaborative album, Shine A Light: Field Recordings From The Great American Railroad, out September 23 on Cooking Vinyl. New tour dates include the beloved Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY, a taping for NPR’s Mountain Stage in Pittsburgh and The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI. Previously announced highlight include appearances at the AmericanaFest in Nashville, the New York Society For Ethical Culture and the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco among others.

Recorded during a 2,728-mile railroad trip from Chicago to Los Angeles, Shine A Light: Field Recordings From The Great American Railroad explores how the railroad itself played an immeasurable role in shaping the American folk music tradition. The album features the perfectly matched voices of Bragg & Henry and captures the varied atmospheres and environments in which they recorded—from the close proximity of soft-furnished sleeping cars to cathedral-like ambience of waiting halls built to hold thousands of passengers. Containing thirteen songs originally recorded by legendary singers such as Lead Belly, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers and more, the album reveals an often forgotten but integral part of America’s musical heritage.
