Bruce Cockburn Releases New Video For  “Stab At Matter”

Raves For New Album Bone On Bone;  North American Tour Expanded

Hear Cockburn live via NPR’s World Café & Mountain Stage

Twelve-time Juno Award winner Bruce Cockburn has released a video for his boisterous foot-stomper “Stab At Matter,” taken from his acclaimed new album Bone On Bone.

Bone On Bone is Cockburn’s 33rd album featuring 11 new songs with a prevalent urgency and anxious tone, which Cockburn attributes to living in America during the Trump era. But, more than anything, Bone on Bone amounts to the deepest expression of Cockburn’s spiritual concerns to date. Ranking among the top ten most played albums on U.S. Americana radio shortly after release, it has been the subject of critical acclaim across the board. Cockburn’s 2017 North American saw sell out attendance and he continues to add new dates throughout 2018. See below for what critics are saying and a full tour schedule.

11 tracks of grit and grace standing as one of the finest albums of the year

Rings out with the expert craft of a legend

As a songwriter and singer, there are few better

A fine, deep return…this somewhat grimier and edgier Cockburn is clearly inspired, his lyrics are both jagged and elegant

One of Canada’s most beloved songwriters

There must have been a “no bad albums” clause in Bruce Cockburn’s contract with True North Records. Nearly 50 years and 33 albums later, Cockburn has yet to release even a less-than-great album. And Bone on Bone, Cockburn’s first in six years, stands with the best of his work.

An extraordinary album from an artist who at age 72 has a repertoire of originals the equal of any folk or Americana artist alive and touring today

A strong welcome back to Bruce Cockburn – music of real quality and a delight to immerse yourself in

Bone on Bone makes clear that his song-based activism hasn’t eased any. If anything, he doubles down, impressing upon listeners the detrimental forces propelled by division, isolation, and more

A vigorous, diverse, and satisfyingly collection of instrumental and vocal tracks with Cockburn’s masterful guitar work right where it belongs: at the heart of the record. Bone On Bone, in brief, has all the grind and sweet promise of living in a dark time.
