Debut Album ‘Turbulent Times’ Out May 24; Release Show Confirmed for May 23 at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right

May 10, 2019 – “Captain” Kirk Douglas, long-time guitarist for celebrated hip-hop group The Roots, has released the third single as ‘Hundred Watt Heart’ with Billboard Magazine. The heavy-rocking single, “Uma” will appear on his highly anticipated album “Turbulent Times” out May 24.

Also confirmed is the album release show where Hundred Watt Heart will perform songs from the album on May 23 at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right.

“Uma”, inspired by and appropriately named after Douglas’ daughter, delivers imaginative lyrics reminiscent of a modern-day “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” – an original painting created by a father’s love. With lines like “Lived a girl with her head in the clouds and the color of trees in her eyes…” the heavy-rocking song gives the listener brief hints of psychadelia and blues.

Recorded at New York’s Electric Lady studios in 2016 with bassist Mark Kelley and Earl Greyhound drummer Ricc Sheridan, ‘Turbulent Times” has been a highly anticipated group effort from ‘Hundred Watt Heart.’ “I like being in a band,” says Douglas. “I felt like even though these are my compositions, it’s a band effort in terms of its execution, so that’s why I went with a name. And Hundred Watt Heart feels right. It’s describing what’s going down. It’s the amplification of what’s in my heart.”
