April 18, 2019 – “Captain” Kirk Douglas, serving as lead guitarist for legendary hip-hop group The Roots for over a decade and collaborating with an array of musical legends, premieres his second solo single as ‘Hundred Watt Heart’ with Relix Magazine. The song, “Little Friend” will appear on his forthcoming album ‘Turbulent Times,’ due May 24.

“Little Friend” was inspired by a much-talked about incident where Prince accidentally broke the 1961 Epiphone Crestwood that Douglas had lent him during a performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. That now repaired guitar is currently on display at the Metropolitan Museuem of Art’s “Play It Loud” exhibit of famous instruments in New York.

Fans can catch Douglas and Hundred Watt Heart (backed by fellow instrumentalists Mark Kelley-bassist for the Roots and Ricc Sheridan- drummer for Earl Greyhound) at New York’s, Chelsea Music Hall on April 26 where he will play back to back with the ‘Soul In the Horn’ party, DJ’d by Brooklyn’s Hip Hop megastar Talib Kweli as well as award-winning UK-based DJ and producer Kayper.
