Listen to the Flirty Thirty Soundtrack Here
The Oakland based foursome ‘Copyslut’ is back just in time for Pride with a fiery and radically healing set at El Rio on May 16th. Partnered with feminist and gender-queer organization Degenderettes, the show also features Bay Area bands Lavender Scared and Scorpio Moon. The Degenderettes is an international art club hosting events and shows that support their communities; the show at El Rio is entirely free and Copyslut invites the Bay Area community at large to attend for a preview of what they plan on bringing to this year’s Bay Area Pride events.
Copyslut is one of the most dynamic bands to come out of the Bay Area. Their songwriting merges art pop with heavy metal; that combined with their theatrical edge and sex-magic provides audiences with a compelling and charismatic live performance. For Copyslut, pleasure is the hook. They use their performance to show the healing potential of feeling good. They bring their audience into a sexy space – letting go of shame and re-sensitizing through deeply earnest auditory and visual expression. The band delivers unforgettable guitar riffs and explosive vulnerability amidst powerful vocals. Band members Chatz on vocals, Ray Zamora on guitar, Eli Maliwan on bass, and Roxanne Medina on drums combine their efforts to create an unforgettable and honest experience for their fans.
The band will visit two more stages this June. On June 16th, Father’s Gay, a Queer Music Festival at Santa Rosa’s Whisky Tip will host alongside internationally beloved KOHINOORGASM, Billboard artist Ah Mer Ah Su, and many more. Quick to follow on June 29th is Sex Work Is Gay, a post-Dyke March benefit show highlighting the ways in which the sex industry flips the script and challenges compulsory heteronormativity. Show tickets raise money for the San Francisco Homeless Youth Alliance. The band is co-hosting the event with Noise Pop and DoTheGay. They will be playing alongside notable Salami Rose Joe Louis, producer and songwriter #Lafemmebear, go go dancers and many more
