U.S. tour to kick off Sept. 21 – Headlining show at New York’s Joe’s Pub Confirmed for Oct 26

Following his highly praised debut performance at Newport Jazz Festival and shows in some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls earlier this summer, cellist and vocalist Gabriel Royal has released his sophomore record, Miss Once in a Blue Moon today, September 7. Featuring elegant melodies and expert songwriting—recalling the work of John Legend and others—the album presages what is sure to be a breakout year for an artist who spent more than a decade busking in the subway tunnels of New York City. Royal’s U.S. tour will commence in Mesa, AZ Sept 21 and cross much of the country. He will headline Joe’s Pub in New York City Oct 26. See below for full tour dates.

The theme of romantic love is the backbone of Miss Once in a Blue Moon, whose title takes its cues from a noncommittal ex. “I’m always thinking about love— what happened to me last year and what could happen to me tonight,” says Royal. “And my music has always been a vehicle for emotional discovery.” But for all its tenderness, Miss Once in A Blue Moonwhich Royal wrote over a feverish period of six months— is also a bold coming-out from an artist the Huffington Post once dubbed “Brooklyn’s best busker.”
