U.S. DATES TO FOLLOW

Oxford-based artist Lewis Watson is back with the brand new song ‘little light’ taken from his upcoming album midnight, out March 3rd, 2017 through Cooking Vinyl.

The dramatic new track is a beautiful return from the acclaimed 24-year-old. Rich with emotion, Lewis wears his heart on his sleeve with this poetic love song. The gleaming guitar lines, crystalline melodies and captivating vocals showcase Lewis at his best.

Picking up the guitar at the age of 16 Lewis first came to public attention by uploading stripped-back covers online, and it wasn’t long until the teenage artist amassed views in the hundreds of thousands.

In 2012, his debut EP of original material, ‘it’s got four sad songs on it, btw,’ shot straight to the top of the iTunes UK singer-songwriter chart. Sparking the attention of several major labels, Lewis signed to Warner Bros UK and went on to release four more EPs, all of which dominated the iTunes chart, followed by his debut album, the morning, in 2014.

Watson has cemented himself as a remarkable live artist, playing to sold-out crowds across the globe. He’s headlined London’s Shepherds Bush Empire, NYC’s Bowery Ballroom and LA’s Troubadour. He also sold out a headline tour in Australia and appeared at festivals such as Glastonbury, V, Bestival, The Great Escape and T In The Park.

Feted by the UK press, championed across national radio stations in England and adored by an enormous online following, Lewis stepped away from the limelight to refocus and work on new material. Regaining full control, he was able to take his time writing songs that fully explored his experience and talent. With a wealth of new material to choose from, he entered the studio with producer Anthony West and recorded the entire album in just two weeks with a live band.

The result is an album of power and beauty. With midnight, he has developed his much-adored sound into something more ambitious and even more affecting. The album expands Lewis Watson’s musical world far beyond his debut and also features a haunting duet with Lucy Rose on the achingly emotional, ‘slumber’.

With several labels keen to sign him after two years away, Lewis decided to take a new approach to releasing his music. He has partnered with the leading independent label Cooking Vinyl, and will be heading out on tour to showcase many of the new songs direct to his fans.

The first taste of midnight comes later this month with seven intimate performances in the UK, ahead of a larger headline tour in March in support of the album, which includes a date at London’s Tabernacle on March 23rd.
