Following seven years of explosive growth across China, becoming that country’s largest music festival ever, The Modern Sky Festival is now set to come to the United States for the first time, bringing a wide-ranging, two-day musical gathering to Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield in New York, October 4th & 5th 2014.

The festival has an exciting lineup including Cat Power, Liars, Stars, Ted Leo & Aimee Mann, A William Onyeabor tribute, The Blood Brothers and more. There will also be a contingent of leading Chinese indie bands including Omnipotent Youth Society, Re-TROS (Rebuilding The Rights of Statues) and others.

Newly added to the Atomic Bomb! line up are Dead Prez and Peaking Lights who will be joining already announced Jamie Lidell, the Mahotella Queens, Atomic Bomb!’s Ahmed Ghallab and his band Sinkane, Money Mark and Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor (along with a fantastic group of horn players and Nigerian percussionists!).

Williamsburg’s Baby’s All Right is catering the VIP section, Brooklyn Flea’s Smorgasburg has food available for general audience. Exclusive Modern Sky fashion accessories will be available from Built By Wendy.

About Modern Sky Founder/CEO, Shen Lihui
Shen Lihui is commonly referred to as the “Richard Branson of China” by Chinese media. Lihui is the Founder and CEO of Modern Sky Entertainment, Ltd. and was the lead singer of seminal Chinese rock band Sober (Qingxing). In it’s 40th Anniversary issue, Time Out Beijing featured Lihui among it’s list of “40 Heroes” of the past forty years.
