Festival Confirmed For Oct 4th, 5th In Central Park
Following seven years of explosive growth across China, becoming that country’s largest music festival ever, The Modern Sky Festival is now set to come to the United States for the first time, bringing a wide-ranging, two-day musical gathering to Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield in New York, October 4th & 5th 2014.
Artists confirmed for the already announced festival include “post-hardcore surrealists” (Exclaim) The Blood Brothers who will be making their first New York appearance since disbanding in 2007.
Also on the bill is Atomic Bomb! The Music of William Onyeabor band, now confirmed to feature legendary jazz saxophonist Pharaoh Sanders, South African female vocal ensemble The Mahotella Queens, plus Sinkane, Money Mark, Alexis Taylor & more.
Additionally, Cat Power will perform a rare New York show with her full backing band featuring Gregg Foreman (keyboard), Adeline Jasso (guitar), Nico Turner (bass) and Alianna Kalaba (drums). Cat Power has previously performed at Beijing and Shanghai versions of the festival in 2013.
Also on the bill will be Stars, The Both – feat. Aimee Mann & Ted Leo, Liars, and Chinese rock bands Re-TROS, Queen Sea Big Shark and Second Hand Rose.
