The Music Business Toolbox, a comprehensive platform providing tools, instruction and more to musicians, artist managers, producers and others has confirmed an exciting slate of new features, integrations, podcasts and speaking engagements for 2020. Founded by industry veteran Bryan Calhoun in 2008, MBT has become the go-to source for today’s music makers and business managers to find the in-depth guidance and know-how needed to further careers in the new and rapidly evolving business of music.

“We believe music should be shared with the world, and musicians should be able to make a living as creators,” says Calhoun. “We’re frustrated that many don’t have access to the information and tools they need to be successful and we’re passionate about changing that.”

MBT will offer updates to its already comprehensive offerings in coming months including instructional how-to’s on artist revenue streams, understanding royalty payments, recording budgets, song data tracking, songwriter splits, distribution agreements, marketing plans, licensing, merchandising and much more.

Additionally, Calhoun will host a forthcoming video and podcast series available through MBT, and all podcast platforms, where he will interview artists such as Questlove along with music industry professionals from companies such as SongTrust, Disc Makers and more. Further details on launch date to be announced. Additionally MBT will be expanding its education component becoming part of the music business curriculums at The Joel A. Katz Music and Entertainment Business Program at Kennesaw State University and more.

Calhoun, a voting member of the Recording Academy, has built an illustrious career at the nexus of technology, business and music and for years has been a regular speaker and panelist at conferences such as SXSW, MIDEM, NY:LON and more. He was instrumental in the development of royalty collection and performance rights organization SoundExchange where he was Head of Industry Relations from 2008-2012, was COO of Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music and oversaw West’s digital initiatives, held executive positions at Relativity Records, RED Distribution (SONY),Warlock Records and works with management powerhouse the Maverick/Blueprint Group whose clients have included Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, G-Eazy, The Roots, Jill Scott, T.I., Drake, Trippie Redd and others..
