As anticipation builds for the Jan 22 release of Red Baraat’s new album Shruggy Ji, the band, loved for their unique Brooklyn Bhangra sound and for “putting some New York bluster atop faraway roots” (New York Times), has announced their first string of 2013 U.S. tour dates including headlining shows at D.C.’s 9:30 Club and NY’s Bowery Ballroom. Along the way, a special show will take place at Philadelphia’s Annenberg Center featuring a live, pre-show interview with Red Baraat founder Sunny Jain by David Dye, host of WXPN’s World Café.

Red Baraat just returned from a European tour that finished with their largest sold-out European performance to date at the Luxembourg Philharmonic. They are set to preview songs from the new album at Brooklyn’s Masonic Temple performing on a bill with Antibalas December 14.
