Opens new Nashville office 

Patrick Sabatini and Jeff Koenig named partners

New York, NY—April 24, 2018—Entertainment law firm Serling Rooks Hunter McKoy & Worobhas appointed Craig Averillas a name partner and will change its name to Serling Rooks Hunter McKoy Worob  & Averill LLP.

In addition to the name change, the firm (SRHMWA) has promoted attorneys Patrick Sabatiniand Jeffrey Koenigto partners and is reestablishing a Nashville office, with three attorneys initially, to be co-headed by Sabatiniand partner J. Reid Hunter. SRHMWA represents a broad range of recording artists, producers, songwriters, record companies, music publishers, music royalty monetization companies, music industry executives, marketing and promotion companies, personal managers, production companies and booking agencies in all aspects of transactional entertainment law.

Averill, based in New York, represents entertainment marketing companies such as Cornerstone, Red Bull Media House, and others. Producer and artist clients for Averillrange from John Hill– producer and co-writer for such hits as “Feel it Still” by Portugal the Man – LCD Soundsystem, Phoenixand Interpolto RL Grime, Hudson Mohawke and Baauer, and most recently Jojiand Niki, both ascendant stars newly signed to the Asian hip hop label 88Rising.

Averillbegan his career with Sony Music Entertainmentbefore serving as the general manager for Gypsy Records, an independent record label established with Walter Yetnikoff, formerly president and CEO of CBS Records/Sony Music. Averillentered into private law practice in 1999; in 2004 he formed his own law firm Sciorra Leaness Averill & Rubenstein LLCwhere he remained until aligning with SRHMWA in 2008, becoming a partner in January 2016.

SRHMWA’s expansion to Nashville follows a natural evolution of the firm as they already represent a wide cross-section of talent and corporate clients closely associated with Music Row and beyond. Current Nashville-based clients include Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Studios, Jamey Johnson, River House Artists (home to CMA-nominated Luke Combs), Jason Isbell, White’s Mercantile (owned by musician Holly Williams), Curb Records (intellectual property matters), Word Records (intellectual property matters), the Kinkead Entertainment Agency and Judah & the Lion. The firm also represents a significant number of Nashville-based agents, having recently negotiated Nashville power agent Scott Clayton’s recent move to William Morris Endeavor.
